Bramalea Baptist Church
Bramalea Baptist Church is a member of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada. Its statement of faith holds that the Bible is the complete Word of God, verbally inspired and entirely free from error as originally written, and that salvation is by the sovereign, electing grace of God, with justification by faith alone. It describes a church as a company of immersed believers, a sovereign and independent body whose officers are pastors and deacons, and observes two ordinances: the baptism of believers by immersion and the Lord's Supper.
Bramalea Baptist Church stands at the corner of Dixie Road and Queen Street, across from Bramalea City Centre. It was established in 1963 and, by its own account, began as a tiny church several blocks from its present site, on what was then the outskirts of the new city, before buying the six-acre property at Dixie and Queen and building there. Its most recent addition, completed in 2019, includes a gymnasium, an atrium with a café, and youth ministry rooms.
On Sunday morning there are English services at nine and eleven in the Main Auditorium, the later one also streamed online. At eleven the church also holds a South Asian service in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi in the North Auditorium, and an Arabic service in the Arabic Chapel. Its stated mission is to equip people to know Christ, mature in Christ and live for the glory of Christ.
What to expect
Services last about 75 minutes, with Bible teaching and reading, prayer, and a blended mix of contemporary and traditional worship led by a live band; a prayer team is available at the end. Some people dress up and others keep it casual. Coffee and other hot drinks are served at the Atrium Cafe after both morning services, Grow Zone kids' church meets in the Lower Auditorium at 9:00 and 11:00, and there is plenty of parking.
