Coptic Orthodox Church of Archangel Michael and St. Tekla
Archangel Michael and St. Tekla is a Coptic Orthodox church of the Diocese of Mississauga, Vancouver and Western Canada, led by Bishop Mina. It holds the Bible to be the inspired word of God, to be followed as the early church fathers interpreted it, upholds the Nicene Creed and receives seven sacraments, with the Divine Liturgy as its main service. The Coptic Orthodox Church, under Pope Tawadros II, traces its founding to St. Mark the Apostle in Egypt.
The Church of Archangel Michael and St. Tekla is on Hurontario Street in Snelgrove, in the north of the city. It belongs to the Coptic Orthodox Church, which has its roots in Egypt and is led by Pope Tawadros II, and to that church’s Diocese of Mississauga, Vancouver and Western Canada, which Pope Tawadros established in 2013 and Bishop Mina leads.
The Divine Liturgy is celebrated on Sunday morning at 8:00 and on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings; in October 2026 the Friday Liturgy began at 5:30 a.m. and the others at 8:00. Vespers is prayed on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., and Sunday School meets after the Sunday Liturgy.
