St. Anne's Catholic Church
St. Anne's is a Roman Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Toronto, established in 1973 and named for St. Anne. Catholics confess the Nicene Creed, receive the seven sacraments, and hold that the bread and wine of the Mass become the body and blood of Christ. The parish motto, chosen for its golden anniversary, is 'Community. Adoration. Service.'
St. Anne’s is on Vodden Street East, north of downtown. The archdiocese gives its parish boundaries as Queen Street to the south, Bovaird Drive to the north, McLaughlin Road to the west and Highway 410 to the east.
The parish was canonically erected on 16 June 1973, and its first Masses were celebrated in St. Anne’s School and Central Peel Secondary School. In 1976 it bought 1.7 acres, formerly the Adams family farm, for a church. The present church, designed by the architect John Farrugia with seating for about 780, saw its first Mass on 1 June 1978 and was blessed by Cardinal Carter that October. The parish celebrated its golden anniversary on the feast of St. Anne in July 2023.
The Saturday vigil Mass is at 5:00 p.m., and Sunday Masses are at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and noon, all in English. Weekday Mass is at 9:15 a.m. from Monday to Saturday, and on Friday evening Eucharistic Adoration at 6:00 is followed by Mass at 7:00.
