CrossPoint Christian Reformed Church
CrossPoint belongs to the Christian Reformed Church in North America, which affirms the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism and Canons of Dort. The church sums up the Reformed tradition in the Reformation's mottos of Scripture alone, Christ alone, grace alone and faith alone, and it baptizes believers and their children, by immersion or sprinkling. Its stated mission is to glorify God by making disciples of all nations and living out the way of love.
CrossPoint Christian Reformed Church is on Steeles Avenue West near the corner of McLaughlin Road, across from Sheridan College. The congregation was organized in 1965 and belongs to Classis Toronto of the Christian Reformed Church in North America; Richard Grift has been its senior pastor since 2005.
Worship is at ten on Sunday morning, in person and streamed on YouTube, with hymns and worship songs; a music team and a choir are among the volunteers who support it. The church’s Spanish-language ministry, Christian Ministry La Roca, was founded in 2010 by Peter Carrión, who was commissioned as a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church in 2021. La Roca also worships every Sunday at ten, and from time to time the ministries hold a joint service.
CrossPoint describes itself as a multicultural family of believers, and it offers guidance to new immigrants settling in Canada.
What to expect
Visitors are greeted at the door and can pick up a welcome bag at the information centre in the lobby. The church says to expect people wearing everything from jeans to suits to traditional ethnic clothes, a variety of music from hymns to worship songs with many instruments, and refreshments after the service. Welcome luncheons are held from time to time for visitors to meet members and the pastors.
